Which iPhone 12 is Right for YOU?

The new iPhone 12 series has been announced and some models could be pre-ordered as early as October 19. 

But with four very different models to chose from, how do you know which phone is right for you? 

If you are considering upgrading, here are some details that may help you choose the iPhone 12 that's right for you.

The iPhone 12's In a Nutshell

This year we have a dizzying array of four different iPhone 12 models to choose from:

• the 12 Mini,
• the 12,
• the 12 Pro, and
• the 12 Pro Max.

And, each is very different in what it offers the passionate photographer. How do you know what you’re getting before you make a purchase?

The Pro phones – 12 Pro and the 12 Pro Max – are the better of the options for most pro photographers and passionate amateurs.

Unlike the non-Pro models, the 12 Pro models have the following features:

• the third Ultra Wide (13mm) angle lens
• LiDAR sensor for faster focus and thus shooting (especially in low light)
• Night mode portraits 
• Apple ProRAW file format; combines HDR and Deep Fusion technology
• 2.5x optical zoom in, 2x optical zoom out; 5x optical zoom range for the Pro Max 
• 2x optical zoom in, 2x optical zoom out; 4x optical zoom range for the 12 Pro
• ability to shoot Dolby Vision video

It’s these features that set the 12 Pro Max apart from the 12 Pro:

• Longer telephoto lens (65mm vs 52mm) for less facial distortion and ability to shoot portraits from further away from subject
• 46% larger sensor on the Wide lens which makes it 87% better in low light
• ability to shoot Dolby Vision video and edit it in high bit depth on the 12 Pro Max 

If you want the best camera in this year's lineup, you’ll want the iPhone 12 Pro Max, which is my choice, hands down! The longer telephoto lens and the better low light performance are deciding factors for me.
